IGN escolhe os melhores da e3:

    Best Graphics:

Just take a gander at the direct-feed single-player movies and you'll understand why Conker is our pick for the most impressive visuals at the show. Like the original game, Live and Reloaded offers some fantastic texture work, but it's the lighting and heavy color saturation that offer the most dazzle for the eyes. Every little detail has been given special attention, from the steam wafting off a pile of poo to Conker's large, expressive eyes taking in (and reflecting) the beautiful world around him. Perhaps most impressive is that Rare promises there's a good deal of effects not yet in the game, little things that will make this game look even more amazing. Wow

1 - Conker: Live and Reloaded (Xbox)
    2 - Splinter Cell 3 ( multi )
    3 - Resident Evil 4 ( GC )

    Most Innovative Design:

Don't let the presentation fool you. Donkey Kong Jungle Beat is not a Nintendo gimmick. Using the DK Bongos, players maneuver Donkey Kong through classically styled platformer levels. Sounds eccentric, to say the least, but the setup not only works, but triumphs. Every person who played DK Jungle Beat fell in love with the simplistic, but wholly intuitive and extremely satisfying Bongo-centric control scheme. And the game's graphics, which are filled with little extras like realistic fur and explosive particle effects, are no slouch either. The end result: one of the most addictive and enjoyable surprises at Nintendo's booth, and easily one of the most innovative.

1 - Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat (GameCube)
    2 - The Movies ( multi )
    3 - Pac Pix ( Nintendo DS )

    Technological Excellence:

Capcom's latest entry into the survival horror genre not only arrives as the most ambitious Resident Evil yet from a gameplay standpoint, but it also blows the rooftops off everything else out there from a technical one. The game, which once again stars franchise hero Leon Kennedy as he explores dark and gritty locales in search of the President's daughter, features the best graphics yet seen on GameCube. Unbelievably beautiful art design mixes with a host of technical achievements, from environments and character models made using high amounts of polygons to an incredibly detailed lighting and shadow system, explosive particle effects, superb animation and more, all of which make for an end visual experience that will leave players speechless -- and scared.

    1 - Resident Evil 4 ( GC )
    2 - Rome: Total War ( PC? )
    3 - Half Life 2 ( PC & XBOX )

    Biggest Non-Playable Presentation:

The long-awaited return of adult Link easily took home this year's award for Best Non-Playable Presentation with an almost unanimous vote from IGN's editorial staff. The game's massively updated graphics, which shined with detailed worlds populated by menacing enemies and a truly magnificent looking hero Link, garnered huge cheers from Nintendo fans and skeptics alike. And the demonstrated gameplay mechanics, which looked to be very similar to the tried-and-true control abilities and puzzle challenges seen in previous Zelda games, had showgoers abuzz with talk about how long the wait until 2005 would seem. For many Nintendo fans, this short, but sweet presentation was more exciting than anything else at the Electronics Entertainment Expo 2004, playable or not.

1 - Legend Of Zelda ( working Title, GC)
    2 - PSP

    Biggest Surprise:

The crowd went absolutely wild when Nintendo unveiled the new and completely reworked look and direction of The Legend of Zelda franchise at its pre-E3 2004 press conference. Indeed, according to Nintendo representatives, several attendees on hand actually had tears in their eyes. As much love as the Zelda franchise has received over the years, nobody expected the always-stubborn Nintendo to give gamers what they have been crying out for since the Space World 2000 demo of adult Link. So when it happened, nobody was prepared for it. The news of a totally reborn Zelda void of the cel-shaded style prevalent in The Wind Waker sent a shockwave through Nintendo's press conference that still hasn't quite subsided. It's clear that Nintendo has a mega-hit in the making.

1- Legend of Zelda ( working Title, GC)
2 - Ea on XBOX live ( XBOX)
    3 - Black ( ? )

    Best Booth:

French publisher Ubisoft consistently serves up interesting displays at all the trade shows it attends, but this year's booth took the gateau. Visitors who walked through the blue and purple gate adorned by the new Ubisoft "lum" logo found themselves face to face with a variety of eye-popping, themed sections. From the tropical FarCry: Instincts set, over the Brothers in Arms military barracks, to a Prince of Persia temple gate guarded by scantily-clad ladies, Ubisoft's mini-Disneyland-style presence at E3 was a visual delight that perfectly showcased the company's varied lineup. The only other company to come close was THQ, which featured an impressively rusty S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Chernobyl set.

    1 - Ubisoft
    2 - Thq
    3 - MS

    Best Hardware/Peripheral:

'Gran Turismo Anywhere' ... Its product quality is not at all inferior to its PS2 counterpart." Just reading this self-assured quote on the GT4 Mobile preliminary box is enough indication as to why we had to cinch our belts to keep the pantload from creeping out when we made our way over to Sony's booth. Though some critical issues are still unresolved (battery life being one of the biggest), Sony's playable handheld system was an absolute Home Run in terms of gaming power, screen brightness, control setup, title variety and system design. Nintendo's DS was great fun and introduced interesting new gameplay ideas, but many of the editors feel that the PSP is destined to be the future evolution of portable gaming.

    1 - PSP
    2 - Nintendo DS
    3 - Alienware

    Best of show:

During an E3 where innovation and originality played second fiddle to established franchises and sequels, and mind you, this was the 10th and an historic E3, selecting a "Best Game of E3" was an arduous task. But being critical by nature, and having done this for years, we forged ahead and picked a potentially great game that is indeed not known for its originality and that is, in fact, a sequel, that being Halo 2.

While Activision's Rome: Total War and Capcom's Resident Evil 4 each brought unique, impressive, or vastly re-invigorated takes on a particular genre, Halo 2 enhanced what was already a very smooth, well-rounded game into a whole new realm of smooth and well-roundedness. The first Halo is still fantastic. But Bungie has added to and expanded on its fundamentals, and is honing and polishing what was already good to a glimmering shine.

What Bungie has exhibited is that its fundamental gameplay is remarkably good. And that with sound fundamentals, having the best graphics or most original game isn't necessary to achieve greatness. By bolstering the physics system and applying to it to vehicles, characters, and objects, by deepening the multiplayer aspects with masterfully designed online gameplay, and by adding tons of little touches -- without ruining any particular aspect that already worked well -- and Bungie's game, the first of which is still the best selling Xbox game to date, has indeed evolved combat to another level.

    1 - Halo 2 ( xbox)
    2 - Resident Evil 4 ( GC )
    3 - Rome: Total War ( pc )
