    Conversa fiada.

    Release Canidate to Vivendi Universal
Gabe Newell confirmed today on our forums, that the Half-Life 2 release candidate was handed over to Vivendi Universal 15th of September. Vivendi Universal would still have to approve this release candidate, which could take several weeks. When the release candidate(s) are approved, an gold announcement should follow.

Yes, the RC went to VU yesterday.

With this short but vital piece of information, we can only hope that Half-Life 2 is in fact, right in front of our noses. Depending on VU's response to the candidate, we could hear a gold announcement in the very near future.

For readers doubt the authenticity of this post in light of the gold hoax, the IP does match up this time and many people have received e-mail confirmation from Doug Lombardi and Gabe Newell.

    ---------------------------------------------------

September 16, 2004 - A release candidate of Half-Life 2 has been sent to Vivendi Universal Games for final approval, putting the game in its very last stages before release.

The news began with a post on hl2fallout.com by Valve's Gabe Newell. "Yes, the RC went to VU yesterday," it reads.

Given the recent "gone gold" hoax, where a Valve account on a fansite was hacked in order to fake an official gold announcement, it's understandable that the latest news has been received with skepticism.

However, we were able to confirm with Valve's Doug Lombardi that this was no hoax. "That post was real -- the RC was sent yesterday," he told IGNPC.

Now what remains is for Vivendi to approve the release candidate, at which time HL2 can be declared gold. And of course, gold status is then the only stage remaining (apart from manufacturing and shipping, if you're not going the Steam route) before Half-Life 2 is alive on your machine.

Either way, we certainly seem to be getting close. Watch this space.

Tanto Gabe quanto o Doug Lombardi confirmaram a notícia.

Agora a VUG precisa aprovar o jogo.
